What is it?
Instructional coherence ensures that every component of the academic experience is tightly aligned, strategically coordinated, and mutually reinforcing. Instructional coherence aims to maximize and accelerate student learning by enabling quality teaching. A coherent program is guided by a common framework for curriculum, support, professional development, and program leadership.
What is the evidence base?
Schools with strong instructional coherence have higher gains in student achievement and stronger principal leadership.
