Nurturing Parenting Program

What is it?

The Nurturing Parenting Program is a family-centered trauma-informed intervention designed to foster nurturing parenting skills and reduce abusive parenting practices. The program focuses on remediating parent patterns that are known to form the basis of maltreatment. Sessions include activities and lessons led by a trained facilitator and are conducted in homes, groups, or a combination of home and groups

What is the evidence base?

Parents that participate in the Nurturing Parenting Program demonstrate greater knowledge of positive discipline practices, an increase in parental empathy, and a decrease in their value of corporal punishment. Parents are also less likely to have a substantiated maltreatment incidence.
