My Teaching Partner (MTP)

What is it?

My Teaching Partner (MTP) is a set of professional development resources designed to improve teacher-student interactions and increase student learning and development. There are three MTP resources: a video library with examples of best practices, a college course on building teacher knowledge on effective interactions, and a web-mediated individualized coaching program. The resources rely on the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) as the primary tool to observe and define effective practices.

What is the evidence base?

Pre-k children whose teachers use MTP demonstrate improvements in receptive language skills and literacy development. Pre-K teachers who receive MTP consultation show greater gains in the quality of their social and instruction interactions with students, especially in high-poverty classes. MTP can also promote student engagement, increase positive peer interactions, and reduce racial disparities in teachers’ discipline practices.
